Cantex Senior Communities
Overview
Cantex Senior Communities was formed in 1978. Today, with 32 successful years of business behind us, we operate 20 nursing centers with a total of 2,375 licensed beds. All of our nursing centers are located in the State of Texas, are certified under the federal Medicare program and participate in the Texas Medicaid program. We also own and operate a captive institutional pharmacy that provides pharmacy services to our centers. Rehabilitation provided to Cantex residents is provided by our in-house therapy division. Elysian Hospice, our in-house hospice, offers hospice services to many of our communities.
Cantex’s Philosophy – A Commitment to Excellence
Our member companies and management recognize that providing great care to almost 2000 residents every day through a like number of employees can only be achieved through a commitment to excellence. Through efficient delivery of high quality services, we aim to be the provider of choice in every community we serve. By creating a rewarding workplace, we aim to attract a committed and talented workforce. In fully satisfying our residents and their families, we aim to provide a strong financial return for our investors.
Execution of this mission relies on our setting high standards and developing reliable systems for achieving them. Cantex meets this challenge in a variety of ways. On the clinical side, we focus on achieving outcome goals that exceed State and national averages. Effective recruitment, training and retention help us to put more and better-qualified clinical staff on the floor. Consistent care delivery is guided by internally developed “Resident Care Management Systems” that detail basic approaches for key care areas. Policies and procedures are the subject of thorough annual reviews, updates and retraining. Over one hundred quality indicators are tracked and trended monthly in our centers and reviewed by regional and corporate management. Continuous quality improvement is the focus of quarterly meetings that bring together center, regional and corporate staff from a variety of disciplines.
Equal care is given to maintaining the financial health of our company. Here too we set aggressive goals designed to meet and exceed State and national averages. Consistent results are guided by internally developed “Financial Management Systems” that detail basic approaches to key areas from account collection to departmental cost control. Financial quality indicators that go beyond the bottom line are tracked and trended monthly by our centers and reviewed by regional and corporate staff.
We also give a very high priority to maintaining and improving our capital assets. Our primary goal here is to provide our residents with an attractive, modern and safe living environment. Our program is built upon not deferring maintenance. To do this, we combine day-to-day attention to our physical plants with thorough and stringent annual environmental reviews that result in a slate of improvements for each center each year.
