Organization Overview

The Task Force for Global Health is a nonprofit public health organization that is based in Decatur, Georgia and is an affiliate of Emory University. The work of the Task Force focuses on both international and domestic health and human development. The Task Force was formed in 1984 as a collaboration between the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, and the Rockefeller Foundation to achieve the goal of universal child immunization by 1990. Since its inception, the Task Force has worked effectively to convene people and organizations from public and private sectors to help them work together to achieve consensus and implement programs. By providing an unbiased, neutral meeting ground, we are able to help organizations set aside their institutional agendas to achieve a common strategic goal.

We build coalitions, forge consensus, and leverage the funding and human capital necessary to address complex global health issues that affect the world’s population, in addition to children's health issues. With our twenty-five year legacy of developing programs and short-term projects based on the principles of collaboration and partnership, we are steadfast in our mission to improve health and human development around the world.

The Public Health Informatics Institute is a program of the Task Force for Global Health. The Institute is focused on advancing public health practitioners’ strategic management of health information systems. At the Public Health Informatics Institute, we understand that effective health information systems are about more than technology. We help our customers to address issues of leadership, governance, stakeholders, organization strategy, financial support, policy support, and evaluation. Because we also understand the power inherent in collaboratively developed information systems solutions, we assist our customers to address health information systems in partnership with other organizations. The Public Health Informatics Institute seeks to be the recognized leader in advancing informatics practice in public health.
